New Instrument Maker for the Microbial Sciences Shop!
Scott Timme comes to us with a wealth of knowledge about precision
machining of metals and plastics as well as terrific mechanical
skills. His background is in engineering, not microbiology, so he
will be on a steep learning curve the first year or so, having to
learn so many people, our huge and very complex building, and our
scientific instruments, all at once.

Please visit Room 2454 to see the new Judy Peterson graduate student lounge. Department members and friends raised money to secure the naming opportunity for this room in honor of long-time employee Judy Peterson. Judy worked in the department from 1974 until her retirement in 2007. She served as Department Administrator and then as Executive Officer for the department. Judy was recognized for her efforts by the Wisconsin Alumni Association Award for Excellence in Leadership in 1994 and the CALS Outstanding Advisor Award in 1986. We are happy to be able to recognize Judy's years of contributions to the department. If you look into the room, you can see a large Bruce Fortney painting on the wall near the window. This painting was donated specifically for this room to commemorate Judy's career by one of her good friends.
