Outreach

The aim of our outreach programs are to bring the world of microbiology to the world at large.

Our faculty have written and maintain several online general microbiology textbooks that are geared to a public audience. These include Todar's Online Textbook of Bacteriology, The Microbial World Online Textbook, and the Virtual Microbiology Lab Manual.

We are also starting a new program that features the embedded outreach space within the Microbial Sciences Building, The Microbe Place. Look here in the near future for information on microbiology in the news, a Microbe of the Month feature, and online versions of our Microbe Place exhibits.

We also participate in UW campus science outreach events. A great place to learn about these events is the Science on campus web site.

Finally, The American Society for Microbiology has a number of innovative materials for the public, including the MicrobeWorld web site and the Daily Podcast.
