Bioeconomy Assistant Professor
The Department of Bacteriology is seeking applicants at the Assistant Professor level to launch a research program in the New Bioeconomy. Applicants may be interested in a broad range of study systems, with a goal of harnessing natural and synthetic microbial species and communities to create powerful functional systems. This hire will support ongoing teaching needs and may develop new courses in quantitative microbiology, microbial bioeconomies, and/or microbiome engineering.
The Department of Bacteriology is excited to welcome two new faculty with expertise in the New Bioeconomy and Systems and Synthetic Biology. Applicants may also be interested in a related Systems and Synthetic Biology position in the Department of Biochemistry. As a world-renowned hub for scientific innovation, UW–Madison offers an extraordinarily collaborative research environment with deep strengths across the biological sciences and biotechnology. Beyond the lab, Madison consistently ranks as one of the nation’s most livable cities, offering a vibrant, welcoming community nestled between two stunning lakes with a great quality of life.
Systems and Synthetic Biology
The Department of Bacteriology is seeking applications for an open rank faculty position in Systems and Synthetic Biology. While applications from all areas of Microbiology will be considered, the department is particularly interested in candidates who seek to advance quantitative and predictive understanding of biological systems, including experimental, computational, and engineering approaches that uncover fundamental principles and, in some cases, enable the design and control of biological function. This hire will support ongoing teaching needs and may develop new courses in quantitative microbiology, systems & synthetic microbiology, and/or microbiome engineering.
Systems and Synthetic Biology (Biochemistry)
The Department of Biochemistry is also seeking applications for a position in Systems and Synthetic Biology. More information about this position will be available soon.
